FIMS New User Training Class Registration Information

The FIMS support contractor provides two day user training classes for the FIMS system.  The next scheduled classes will be held in the Spring 2010.  There will be significant focus on the latest FIMS enhancements/guidance.

Objectives for the training are:

bulletIntroduce participants to the capabilities of FIMS
bulletDiscussions about how FIMS serves as the Department's corporate facilities database
bulletReview of any FIMS related guidance from Headquarters including the FRPC elements
bulletDiscussion on the Data Validation Process
bulletSustainability
bulletReview of DOE corporate measures such as FCI, ACI, OCI, and AUI
bulletLearn to navigate efficiently through the system
bulletAdd real property information as part of extensive hands-on exercises
bulletReview of the FIMS data elements and requirements
bulletReview of all of the latest enhancements
bulletReview FIMS archive capabilities and discuss the "banking" concept for square footage
bulletReplacement Plant Value calculations
bulletDevelop ad-hoc queries using techniques available through FIMS, Microsoft Access and Discoverer

The class consist of lecture/demonstration and hands-on exercise providing participants an opportunity to explore all of the major system functions.  Each person attending the training will receive 1 copy of the FIMS Training Manual. 

The following general and administrative information is provided for those individuals interested in attending the training class.

March 31 - April 1, 2010

bulletClass Duration

The training class will consist of 2 full days of instruction between the hours of 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.  Travel arrangements should be made accordingly.

Directions to the Training Site
From Las Vegas Blvd, proceed to I-15 North.  Take the Lake Mead - West exit.  At the first traffic light, turn right onto Lossee Rd.  Once on Lossee Rd at the 2nd traffic light, turn left onto Energy Way.  Follow Energy Way to the stop sign.  Turn right into the parking lot.  The C-1 building is adjacent to the parking lot.  Once you enter the building, go straight down the hall.  Room 6402 is on the left.

VERY IMPORTANT: Please be sure to bring your DOE badge with you.  You will need to show this at the guard gate before you can enter the parking lot.

A listing of hotels located in the Las Vegas strip area can be located on the web at www.vegas.com or www.lasvegas.com.  You can also obtain a listing of hotels that are close to the training facility by performing a Google search.
